The Speaker of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People, Ibrahim Bouderbala, suspended the plenary session a short while ago. The decision came after he requested the parliamentary administration to verify the exact number of MPs present in the chamber.
91 MPs present… but 104 votes recorded
According to Bouderbala, the verification revealed an anomaly: 94 MPs were physically present, while 104 votes had been registered. This ten-vote gap immediately raised doubts about the conformity of the voting process underway.
The Speaker stressed that such a situation required urgent clarification to avoid confusion or any contestation regarding the results.
Session resumes after agreement with parliamentary bloc leaders
Following consultations with the leaders of the parliamentary blocs, Ibrahim Bouderbala returned to the podium to announce the resumption of the plenary session. An agreement was reached urging MPs to remain in their seats after each vote, in order to prevent any ambiguity between the number of voters and those physically present.
The resumption of the session aims to ensure greater transparency in the voting process and to prevent similar incidents from occurring again.
