Fourteen people lost their lives and thirty-four others were injured on Saturday when a passenger bus overturned in southern Algeria, according to a statement from Civil Protection.
The tragic accident occurred yesterday around midday, when a passenger bus veered off its course before overturning on National Road No. 50, heading toward Béchar, near the commune and district of Tabelbala.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reacted in a post on his Facebook page, stating: “The traffic accident that occurred in the wilaya of Béni Abbès has deeply saddened us.”
He added: “With great sorrow, I offer my sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased. I pray that God grants their loved ones patience and comfort, and that the injured make a swift recovery, God willing.”
