16-Year-Old Climate Activist Greta Thunberg named TIME’s Person Of The Year

Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swede who motivated millions of young people to deliver action against climate change, has been designated Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for 2019.

Thunberg began a grassroots campaign at the age of 15 by skipping class every Friday to manifest outside Swedish parliament, urging for her government to match its ambitious goals to curb carbon emissions.

Her efforts immediately caught people’s imagination, and in September this year, millions of people took to the streets in cities crosswise the world to support her cause.

Two months ago, Thunberg also was one amongst four laureates acknowledged with the Right Livelihood Award 2019, also recognised as Sweden’s Alternative Nobel Prize.
