In the 1500m freestyle at a crowded Paris La Défense Arena on Sunday, August 4, 2024, Tunisian swimmer Ahmed Jaouadi did not replicate his outstanding performance from the middle distance events after shining in the qualifications and securing 4th place in the 800m freestyle.
Unfortunately, he struggled in the final, finishing in 6th place at 14:43.35. He was up against a fiery podium, with the American swimmer Bobby Finke setting a new world record (formerly held by China’s Sun Yang at 14:31.02) with a time of 14:30.67. Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri took second place with 14:34.55, followed by Ireland’s Daniel Wiffen in third with 14:39.63.
