The latest report from the Ministry of Finance, titled Citizen’s Budget 2025, sheds light on how public investment funds are distributed across various sectors for the current fiscal year.
Out of a total of 10.615 billion dinars allocated to investment and development, 317 million dinars—nearly 3% of the overall amount—have been earmarked for education.
This figure highlights a budgetary orientation shaped by competing priorities at a time when the education sector faces significant needs.
Funding for Maintenance and Equipment
According to the report, 278 million dinars have been allocated for the maintenance and equipment of primary schools, middle schools, and high schools.
An additional 39 million dinars are devoted to the renovation of school dormitories and canteens.
This funding reflects a clear focus on upgrading educational infrastructure, which plays a key role in the overall quality of teaching and learning environments.
Infrastructure Investments Take the Lead
The report also highlights substantial sums dedicated to infrastructure development, with 1.138 billion dinars allocated for projects such as social housing, neighborhood upgrades, road infrastructure, and measures to mitigate flooding and coastal erosion.
These investments point to a strategic effort to bolster urban infrastructure and enhance regional resilience in the face of environmental risks.
Health and Regional Development
The Regional Development Program receives an allocation of 536.5 million dinars, while the healthcare sector is granted 645.8 million in investment funds.
These figures reflect a strong emphasis on strengthening essential public services, particularly in the fields of health and local development—areas that command a significant share of public resources.
The budgetary panorama laid out by the Ministry of Finance reveals an investment strategy in which education receives only a small portion of the funding.
This raises pressing questions about how to balance educational needs with broader development priorities, especially in a context where robust institutional support and sustained cooperation with the state are vital for advancing large-scale public projects.
