22 incursions at Al Aqsa and 57 calls to prayer blocked at Al Ibrahimi in May: Violations on the rise

The Palestinian Ministry of Religious Affairs has condemned a marked escalation in Israeli violations against Muslim holy sites, particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and Al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, during the month of May.

In an official statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry reported that Al-Aqsa Mosque was stormed 22 times by settlers under heavy Israeli police protection, describing the events as part of a “deliberate provocation policy.”

During these incursions, worshippers and mosque guards were expelled or arrested, while highly symbolic and provocative acts were observed — including the raising of the Israeli flag within the mosque compound and the performance of Jewish religious rituals on the esplanades, particularly in front of the Dome of the Rock.

Meanwhile, the call to prayer at Al-Ibrahimi Mosque was prevented 57 times in the same period — an act the ministry views as a flagrant violation of freedom of worship and an assault on one of the most sacred Islamic sites in Palestine.
