On the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, celebrated this Friday in Algeria, the authorities and economic stakeholders have launched a large-scale national campaign to collect sheep hides, a key raw material for the leather and textile industries. This initiative is part of a broader economic, industrial, and ecological strategy.
The Algerian Leather and Derivatives Company (ACED), a public enterprise under the Getex group, has set an ambitious goal this year: to surpass the 500,000 hides collected, a figure already achieved during last year’s Eid. The company is relying on stronger organization and public engagement to reach that target.
To structure the collection chain, agreements have been signed with several technical landfill centers (CET), helping to expand the collection network across the country’s regions.
