Austrian Defense Ministry spokesman Michael Bauer revealed on Tuesday that eight Austrian soldiers belonging to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) were injured in a rocket attack on Camp Naqoura near the Israeli border.
“The injuries were minor and superficial. None of the soldiers required emergency medical attention. The soldiers are members of the repair platoon. It is currently not possible to say where the attack came from,” Bauer said in a post on X and added that the Austrian Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner “condemns this attack in the strongest possible terms and calls on all sides to immediately cease hostilities in the vicinity of the UN mission’s locations.”
According to the UNIFIL, the rocket that hit its headquarters in Naqoura came from the north, “likely by Hizbullah or an affiliated group.” The UN peacekeeping force stated that it has opened an investigation into the strike.
