The new record marked by Algerian cities on June 29 is the logical continuation of the figures recorded in the first days of summer. Ouargla with its peak of 50.1°C is a few lengths, barely 6°C, from the absolute world record, held by Furnace Creek, in Death Valley in California. Remember that this record has been held since July 10, 1913, with a scorching temperature of 56.7°C.
Yesterday, Sunday June 30, the heat struck again, with 10 Algerian cities in the TOP 15 hottest in the world, according to Eldorado Weather. Ouargla still occupies first position with 50.1°C, then comes Hassi-Messaoud (49.7°C), then Adrar (49°C), Timimoun (49°C) and Touggourt (48.9°C). Voice the TOP 15 in the world:

The intensity of the extreme heat anticipated in the Algerian Sahara and the south, and particularly their frequency and duration, are grave reasons for concern for the authorities and the populations. The health of the most vulnerable groups, the risk of fires and increased pressure on water resources are the major concerns in regions where these problems are recurrent.
