President of the Republic, Kais Saied, welcomed, this afternoon, Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Carthage Palace oMs. Feryel Werghi Sebai, Minister of Economy and Planning, and Mr. Samir Abdel Hafedh, Secretary of State at the Ministry of the Economy and Planning responsible for small and medium-sized businesses.
The President of the Republic highlighted a certain number of constants, first and foremost that the economy must be national, founded on the choices of the Tunisian people, on the creation of wealth and real growth, and not on an economy annuity based on which false growth rates are calculated.
Saïed furthermore underscored that the economic and social development plan must be based on a set of options to accomplish social justice and provide a set of basic amenities, such as the right to work and remunerative wages, and the fundamental rights to transport, health, education and social coverage.
In this context, the head of the state stressed that the Tunisian people are today paying extremely dearly for the failed choices since the end of the 1980s of the last century and that the situation has deteriorated due to the circumvention of the legitimate demands of the Tunisians for work, freedom and national dignity.
Saïed highlighted the role of small and medium-sized enterprises and the necessity to remove the different types of obstacles that are often created, notably the inability of several departments concerned to meet the requirements of launching several projects, particularly those in the form of civic companies.
The Head of State concluded by stressing that the inherited situation is hard, but that the will is firm to overcome it, and that all those responsible must engage in this fight led by the Tunisian people for liberation and to put an end to the reign of lobbies which act in secret and mobilize those who represent them and who are an extension of it to inflame the situation in various ways.
