Tunisia – Saïed receives the Minister of Interior and Secretary of State for Security

President of the Republic, Kais Saied, welcomed Wednesday July 31, 2024, at Carthage Palace  Mr. Khaled Al-Nouri, Minister of the Interior, and Sofiane Bessadek, Secretary of State to the Minister of the Interior in charge of national security.

This meeting focused on the results of the visit made by the Minister of the Interior to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. The Head of State reaffirmed the distinguished ties between the two countries in all areas and the constant concern to boost and develop them, as well as the continued coordination to face all the challenges that we can only overcome in solidarity.

This meeting furthermore addressed the general security situation in the country, especially in light of the crises that are created every day, with the necessity to assume legal responsibility not only of those who participate in them, but especially of those who plan and support them.

The President of the Republic highlighted the role of regional and local officials in responding to citizens’ demands, and the need to end the functions of any civil servant, even if one hour after his appointment he has not fulfilled his role and did not bear its responsibility, because it is unacceptable, in a State founded on institutions, that its officials do not exercise the functions assigned to them. It is unacceptable for a civil servant not to act without the intervention of the head of state.

The President of the Republic concluded that the escalation of the situation today in many sectors is not a coincidence, but rather because certain criminal circles and their hired agents want to reverse course, but the Tunisian people have demonstrates unprecedented awareness and will continue the war of national liberation, and nothing will come out of this battle except a strong and victorious man with his head held high.
