Gafsa Civil Protection officers, working with forestry officers, successfully extinguished a fire that broke out yesterday, Friday, March 14, 2025, in the Ain Sultan oasis, in the Ksar delegation of Gafsa governorate, according to the Regional Director of Civil Protection, Brigadier General Mabrouk Saafi.
Saafi told Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) that the fire initially destroyed 3 hectares of reed beds in the valley adjacent to the oasis, before spreading to several farms and burning 34 palm trees (productive and non-productive), 6 olive trees, and 1,000 meters of fence.
The regional director of civil protection indicated that five trucks, four belonging to civil protection and one belonging to the forestry department, were needed to extinguish the fire in the oasis.
