A field survey scheduled from January to March 2026

The Agence d’urbanisme du Grand Tunis, operating under the Ministry of Equipment and Housing, has announced the launch of a field survey of households on individual travel patterns across the four governorates of Greater Tunis: Tunis, Ariana, Manouba and Ben Arous.

The survey will be carried out over a three-month period, from early January 2026 until the end of March 2026, and represents a key step in collecting up-to-date data on the daily mobility habits of residents in the region.

Home visits scheduled in the late afternoon

Survey agents will conduct home visits to the selected households during the late afternoon, starting from 4:00 p.m. These visits aim to collect detailed information on daily individual movements, including travel purposes, modes of transport used, distances covered and constraints encountered.

Authorities are calling on concerned citizens to cooperate fully with survey teams, stressing that the data collected will be used exclusively for planning purposes and to improve public transport and mobility policies.

A strategic project for urban mobility

This survey is part of the preparation of the Greater Tunis Urban Mobility Master Plan, a strategic project led by the Agence d’urbanisme du Grand Tunis in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The objective is to establish a reliable and comprehensive database to support the design of a modern, safe, integrated and sustainable urban transport and mobility system, capable of meeting the needs of all social groups and supporting the continued urban growth of Greater Tunis.

A representative sample of 7,000 households

A total of 7,000 households from the governorates of Tunis, Ariana, Manouba and Ben Arous will take part in the survey. This sample was selected using a rigorous scientific statistical methodology, ensuring that the results are representative and relevant for future planning.

The findings of this survey are expected to play a decisive role in shaping urban transport policies, optimizing existing networks and developing more efficient and environmentally friendly mobility solutions in Greater Tunis.
