Seeking a second consecutive title with Ivory Coast at the 2025 AFCON, coach Emerse Faé failed to overcome his nemesis, Egypt, this Saturday evening at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir, Morocco.
The final quarter-final of the 2025 AFCON saw the Pharaohs prevail over the Elephants (3-1) and secure the last spot in the semi-finals to face Senegal’s Lions of Teranga on Wednesday at 6:00 PM (local time).
The goalscorers in this match were Omar Marmoush (4′), Rami Rabia (42′), and Mohamed Salah (52′), while the Ivorians benefited from an own goal by Ahmed Fatouh to reduce the deficit (40′, 2-1) and a second goal from Guela Doue (73′).
Tonight, Faé faced Hossam Hassan, the Egyptian national team coach, for the second time, having previously played against him in 2006.
