In a match expected to be a tight affair this Thursday evening in Radès, the Carthage Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by their Ugandan counterparts in their opening match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Mouine Chaabani’s charges wasted no time. In the 12th minute, Adam Arous opened the scoring—making it 1-0—off a corner kick from Ismaïl Gharbi, a lead they maintained until halftime.
After the break, the Tunisians continued to press, but in the 86th minute, Rogers Mato equalized following a defensive error by the Tunisian side.
With this result, Tunisia sits fourth in Group H of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers with a single point, trailing Uganda (3rd) as well as Botswana and Libya (also on one point), who played out a 2-2 draw in Tripoli earlier this Thursday afternoon.
