Africa Cup of Nations: Bronze Medal Winners, Edition by Edition

    After 90 minutes of play ended goalless (0–0), Egypt were beaten in the penalty shootout (4–2) by Nigeria on Saturday, January 17, in the third-place playoff of AFCON 2025.

    The Super Eagles have finished in third place more times than any other team, doing so on eight occasions: 1976, 1978, 1992, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010 and 2019. Nigeria are also the only team never to have lost a third-place match.

    Egypt finished third in the 1963, 1970 and 1974 editions, and lost three third-place playoffs in 1976, 1980 and 1984.
