Algeria continues to strengthen support for agricultural investments in its southern regions as part of a broader strategy to boost national production and enhance food security. In this context, the Minister of Water Resources, Taha Derbal, announced that nearly 15,000 well-drilling permits have been granted since 2021 to support large-scale agricultural projects in the country’s southern provinces.
According to the minister, these permits mainly concern the wilayas of Adrar, Timimoune, El Meniaâ, and Ouargla, which have witnessed growing agricultural investment thanks to available land and underground water resources.
