Egypt’s plan for Gaza reconstruction, presented to counter United States President Donald Trump’s plan to rebuild Gaza and displace the Palestinians, was “fully backed by all the Arab states,” Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said on Tuesday.
Arab leaders assigned a committee intending to present the plan to the international community in a bid to gain international support.
The final statement of the Arab summit on post-war Gaza, held in Cairo, urges the implementation of the second and third phases of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and suggests the deployment of international peacekeeping troops in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. It also stresses that the organization will not accept displacement of Palestinian people “under any pretext or circumstance,” according to Gheit.
