Around 80,000 Palestinians Perform Friday Prayers at Al-Aqsa Despite Israeli Checkpoints

Nearly 80,000 Palestinians attended the third Friday prayers of Ramadan at Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, despite Israeli restrictions and checkpoints aimed at stopping worshippers from reaching the holy site, according to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA).

The Director-General of the Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem, Sheikh Azzam Al-Khatib, confirmed that approximately 80,000 worshippers performed Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque today.

Worshippers started arriving at Al-Aqsa as early as Thursday, despite heavy rainfall and Israeli-imposed restrictions. Hundreds of worshippers also remained in i’tikaf (spiritual retreat) throughout the night, marking the beginning of the last ten nights of Ramadan.
