Salwa Ltaif, a member of the National Council of Regions and Districts representing Sousse, confirmed on Tuesday evening the arrest of MP Ahmed Saïdani, stating that it followed a social media post concerning the Head of State.
She argued that “criticism is acceptable and freedom of expression is guaranteed for all. Regardless of differing views on President Kais Saied’s positions, he embodies the authority of the state and deserves respect. There should be no attacks on the symbols of sovereignty,” according to a statement she published on her Facebook page.
