At least 12 killed in Johannesburg bus crash

At least twelve people lost their lives after a bus and another 45 were injured when a bus overturned near Johannesburg’s O. R. Tambo International Airport, an official of the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, Andile Mngwevu, confirmed to the media on Tuesday.

Furthermore, the representative unveiled that the victims included three women and nine men. The bus driver was among the 45 injured. Meanwhile, Ekurhuleni disaster and emergency management spokesperson William Ntladi explained that the vehicle “jack-knifed and rolled several times.” The incident happened on the R21 northbound, but it is still unknown what caused it. All the nearby roads have been closed.

The accident happened just a day after another traffic crash on the N12 in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, claimed the lives of four schoolchildren.
