A strong earthquake struck western Haiti on Saturday morning and was felt in the Caribbean. Authorities stated that 29 people had been confirmed dead.
People fled their homes for fear of collapsing buildings when the 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck at around 8:30 a.m.
A 5.2 degree follower was also recorded about 20 minutes after the initial shaking, and several smaller shocks followed.
