Following the circulation of a video by a social media influencer highlighting the hardships faced by several residents of Douar El Houch, in the Nefza delegation of Béja governorate—particularly due to deteriorating road conditions and the lack of access to drinking water—the Béja regional committee of the Tunisian Red Crescent mobilized to address the situation.
In this context, and acting on instructions from the national committee, the Tunisian Red Crescent in Béja launched a field visit to the area on Saturday, in coordination with regional and local authorities, with the aim of assessing the social and humanitarian conditions of local residents.
During the visit, an urgent intervention was scheduled for the benefit of the population, especially in light of the ongoing cold wave affecting the region. A humanitarian aid convoy is expected to be organized in the coming days.
Sabrine El Baji, Vice-President of the Tunisian Red Crescent’s Béja regional committee, stated in remarks to the Béja correspondent of Tunisie Numérique that these interventions fall within the organization’s humanitarian and social mandate. She stressed that they are intended to respond to citizens’ appeals and address their concerns, particularly in areas marked by high levels of social vulnerability.
