According to indicators released today by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), the amount of banknotes and coins in circulation reached a new peak on Thursday, May 28, 2025, with a total of 24.188 billion dinars. This marks a significant increase compared to the 21.230 billion dinars recorded on the same date last year—an annual rise of 2.958 billion dinars.
The BCT’s Economic Bulletin highlights that the first quarter of 2025 was characterized by an accelerated pace in the growth of cash in circulation (BMC), which rose by 6.2%—or 1.410 billion dinars—compared to a 2.5% increase (512 million dinars) over the same period the previous year. By the end of March 2025, the amount of currency in circulation had reached an unprecedented level of 24.005 billion dinars.
