Bulgaria’s state security agency DANS announced on Thursday it will open an investigation into a Bulgarian-registered company, which remains unnamed, and its connection to the detonating pagers from Lebanon amid widespread reports suggesting that the walkie-talkies used in the explosions were sold in Sofia by North Global Ltd, after being initially obtained from Taiwan.
According to the Hungarian news portal Telex, Norta Global Ltd was responsible for sending the pagers that ultimately exploded to Hezbollah. The Hungarian company, BAC Consulting, merely acted as an intermediary, while the transaction itself was conducted through Bulgaria, the reports added.
Multiple companies pointed fingers at one another for the production, sale, and transportation of the devices.
