CAF Champions League: Pyramids FC Defeat Orlando Pirates to Reach Final Against Sundowns

The Egyptian club Pyramids FC has qualified for the final of the CAF Champions League after a spectacular victory over South Africa’s Orlando Pirates (3-2) on Friday at the 30 June Stadium, in the second leg of the semi-finals. Pyramids will face Mamelodi Sundowns, who eliminated Al Ahly, in the final.

The first leg, played in South Africa, had ended in a goalless draw, allowing the Egyptians to secure a historic qualification for their first-ever continental final with an aggregate score of 3-2.

The decisive goal came in the 84th minute. Following a corner kick from the right by Mohamed Chibi, Sodiq Awgola’s header was initially parried by the goalkeeper, but Fiston Mayele, quick to react, slotted the ball into the back of the net, sealing the victory and a place in the final.
