The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to double its financial support for clubs participating in the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup.
In a statement published on its official website, CAF confirmed it is working to increase its financial assistance by 100% for more than 130 African clubs competing in these two tournaments.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe stated:
“I am very pleased with the ongoing efforts to double CAF’s financial contributions for each club — more than 130 African clubs participating in the Champions League and the Confederation Cup.”
He continued:
“Last year, and for the first time, CAF allocated $50,000 to each team. Now, every club is expected to receive $100,000.”
He added:
“I am satisfied with the proposals presented during CAF’s in-person Executive Committee meeting by the selected international marketing companies. These firms submitted partnership bids with CAF amounting to $1 billion over the next eight years, or for the duration allowed under COMESA competition regulations.”
He concluded:
“These financial resources will significantly contribute to the development of African football, enhance its global competitiveness, and support investment in grassroots football and infrastructure.”
As a reminder, Tunisia will be represented this season in African competitions by Espérance Sportive de Tunis and Union Sportive Monastirienne in the Champions League, and by Étoile Sportive du Sahel and Stade Tunisien in the Confederation Cup.
