Nine people were killed and 16 injured after an armed man opened fire in Monterey Park, California on Sunday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.
According to an unconfirmed report, cited by CNN affiliate KCAL/KCBS, the shooting occurred during Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations.
The condition of the people hospitalized remains unknown, but at least two people are believed to be in critical condition, i24 news reported.
