Central bank of Tunisia: Average money market rate (TMM) Holds Steady at 7% in September

The Average Money Market Rate (TMM) remained at the same level as the policy rate, holding steady at 7% in September 2026 for the second consecutive month, according to data released today by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).

As a reminder, the Average Money Market Rate (TMM) had remained at 6.99% for six consecutive months before rising to 7% in August 2026.

It should be noted that the BCT’s 50-basis-point cut to its policy rate on December 30, 2025, bringing it down to 7.00% effective January 7, 2026, was rapidly and fully reflected in the money market rate (TMM).

The TMM thus began the current year at 7.08% before falling back to 6.99% in February 2026, where it remained stable for six consecutive months, from February through July.

The TMM reached a peak of 8.05% in March 2023, following the monetary policy tightening undertaken by the Central Bank to contain inflationary pressures. Since then, the indicator has followed a downward trajectory.
