Chelsea have booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after defeating Brazil’s Palmeiras 2-1 in a quarter-final clash held at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The tournament is currently taking place in the United States.
Cole Palmer opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 16th minute.
Estevão Willian equalised for Palmeiras in the 53rd minute, netting against the team he is set to join in the near future.
Chelsea had announced the signing of the young talent in the summer of 2024, with the player expected to officially join the London club after the tournament.
The Blues secured victory in the 83rd minute when Palmeiras goalkeeper Weverton scored an own goal.
In the semi-finals, Chelsea will face Brazilian side Fluminense, who knocked out Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal in the previous round.
