France became the first European country on Tuesday to record more than 2 million COVID-19 infections.
The country recorded on Wednesday 28,383 additional coronavirus infections over the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 2,065,138.
Since yesterday, 427 people died in hospitals as a result of contracting the disease, as the death count rose to 46,698.
