Corruption Case: No Release for Ridha Charfeddine

The judicial case implicating the businessman and former president of Étoile Sportive du Sahel (ESS), Ridha Charfeddine, has taken a new turn. The Financial Corruption Chamber of the Tunis Court of Appeal decided on Wednesday to reject his request for release.

In the same case, the judiciary also issued an arrest order against a former president of a prestigious sports club, who is being prosecuted for corruption-related charges.

A Case with Far-Reaching Implications

The case involves several other defendants, including a close associate of Ridha Charfeddine, who remains free, as well as a fugitive businessman who also held a leadership position in a major sports association.

Following deliberations, the indictment chamber ruled to transfer the case to the financial corruption criminal court, under the jurisdiction of the Tunis First Instance Tribunal.

This decision marks a critical stage in a case with extensive implications, shedding light on the intersection between business and Tunisian football—a sector frequently scrutinized for allegations of mismanagement and financial misconduct.
