Decision postponed in Abdelaziz Makhloufi customs case

The Sixth Criminal Chamber Bis, specializing in financial corruption cases at the Court of First Instance in Tunis, has decided to postpone the ruling regarding Abdelaziz Makhloufi, president of the Club Sportif Sfaxien, in a case related to customs issues.

The court has also ruled to keep Makhloufi at liberty in this case while awaiting the conclusion of the trial.

Postponement Linked to Conciliation Efforts
This decision follows the presentation of documents by Makhloufi’s defence team, revealing the initiation of a conciliation process with Tunisian customs authorities. This process could positively influence the outcome of the case.

Formerly, the court ruled on two other cases involving Makhloufi, which were resolved through the extinguishment of public action, thanks to conciliation agreements with customs authorities.

Another Ongoing Investigation
Despite his release in the customs-related case, Abdelaziz Makhloufi remains in custody as part of an investigation led by the chief investigating judge of the Economic and Financial Judicial Pole.

This inquiry pertains to the Henchir Chaâl agricultural estate, a complex case that also implicates a former Minister of Agriculture, former senior officials from the ministry, as well as engineers and agents associated with the estate in question.
