Denmark suspends AstraZeneca Covid vaccine for two weeks after blood clot reports

Denmark has provisionally suspended its AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine programme after records of cases of blood clots forming, including one death, authorities announced on Thursday.

The vaccine will be postponed for 14 days but officials have not revealed how many reports of blood clots there have been.

The move was described by Danish officials as “precautionary” and there has been no confirmed connection between the blood clots and the vaccine. Any possible complications would likely stem from a specific batch, rather than indicating a wider issue.
