Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was condemned to 22 and a half years in jail for the murder of George Floyd on Friday.
Prosecutors had asked for a 30-year sentence for Chauvin, who was sentenced in April of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
Prior to the sentencing, Chauvin offered his condolences to the Floyd family and said that there will be “some other information in the future that will be of interest and I hope things will give you some peace of mind.”
