The areas concerned include the delegation of La Marsa: Cité Bou Selsla, Borj El Haki, Cité Ettabek, Cité El Hokkème, Sidi Daoud and El Bahri El Azraq; the delegation of Le Kram: Le Kram Ouest, Jardins de Carthage, Ain Zaghouan Nord and Sud; the delegation of Carthage: Cité Mohamed Ali and Carthage Byrsa; the delegation of El Khadra: Les Berges du Lac 1; the delegation of La Goulette: Les Berges du Lac 2, Cité Taïeb Mhiri, Cité El Wahat, Cité Essalama and L’Aouina; as well as the delegation of La Soukra: Dar Fadhal.
Water distribution will gradually resume from 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
According to a SONEDE statement, the interruption is part of the completion of the project to protect the La Marsa area from flooding and to cover the Ettabek wadi along Ibn Rachiq Street, in El Bahri El Azraq. The project is being overseen by the Urban Water Directorate under the Ministry of Public Works and Housing.
It was found that a 1,000-mm-diameter main water distribution pipeline lies along the project’s construction route, preventing the work from proceeding within the scheduled timeframe. The situation therefore made it necessary to relocate the pipeline as quickly as possible.
SONEDE extended its sincere apologies to all subscribers residing in the areas affected by the disruptions and interruption of the water supply for the inconvenience caused by this temporary shutdown, which has become necessary to complete the La Marsa flood protection project.
The company said the work would continue without interruption, day and night, 24 hours a day, throughout the intervention. Its technical teams will be fully mobilized in the field and will do everything possible to complete the work as quickly as possible, in order to restore water distribution to its normal level.
Finally, SONEDE urged citizens and the establishments concerned to take the necessary precautions and to plan for and store their essential water needs during this period. It thanked them for their understanding and cooperation.
