New Zealand has been knocked by a strong 5.7 magnitude earthquake.
The earthquake hit near Wellington, on New Zealand’s North Island at 7.53am on Monday.
It was recorded at a depth of 50km.
According to Geonet the shake was felt as far as Gisborne, on the North Island, all the way down to the bottom of the South Islan
New Zealand lies on the seismically active “Ring of Fire,” a 40,000-kilometre arc of volcanoes and ocean trenches girdling much of the Pacific Ocean.
