Egyptian authorities have ordered the immediate shutdown of more than thirty psychiatry and addiction treatment centers found to be operating without official authorization, as part of a broad regulatory campaign to clean up the healthcare sector and protect patients.
According to Al Ahram Info, these facilities were running without valid licenses and failed to comply with mandatory legal and health standards.
The move comes amid heightened scrutiny, following the circulation on social media of images suggesting serious abuses inside one of the centers. The public outcry prompted authorities to fast-track inspection and enforcement measures.
Officials stressed that this crackdown reflects a wider effort to combat illegal medical practices, ensure patient safety, and restore trust in healthcare services across the country.
