El Mazzouna: Schools and public services continue to be suspended for the fourth consecutive day

The complete paralysis of schools, public administrations, and businesses continues for the fourth successive day in the El Mazzouna delegation, under the Sidi Bouzid governorate, reflecting deep popular anger and a growing mobilisation to demand accountability from the authorities in the tragedy that claimed the lives of three students.

On the morning of Thursday, April 17, 2025, a peaceful march was organised with the participation of different components of local civil society, marking the continuation of the protest movements that have shaken the region for several days.

During this mobilisation, the demonstrators reiterated their demands for justice against those responsible for the tragedy, following the collapse of part of the exterior wall of the El Mazzouna secondary school, an incident that caused several losses of life.

They also emphasised the urgency of improving basic infrastructure in a long-marginalised region, while calling for the creation of concrete development projects capable of meeting the needs of the local population and providing employment opportunities for young people.
