In a statement to National Radio, Abdelhamid Gannouni, Director of Energy Efficiency in Transport and Agriculture at the National Agency for Energy Management (ANME), revealed that the number of electric vehicles (EVs) on Tunisian roads increased from 250 in 2024 to 570 by the end of April 2025—a figure he described as still modest.
Gannouni reminded listeners that Tunisia has set an ambitious target of installing 12,000 public electric charging stations and aims to have 125,000 electric vehicles on the road by 2035.
He also noted that out of 50 car dealerships operating in the country, only nine currently offer electric vehicles to their customers.
