Attorney Imad Ben Halima issued a statement for “Tunisie Numérique” on the 20th of August 2019 declaring that the political arena recently witnessed a reconciliation between Prime Minister Youssef Chahed and the Béji Caïd Essebsi family. After the latter declared that things were out of control with no more available and spared options.
Ben Halima stated that the taping that concerns Sufian Toubal, which was published, is an old recording. The video was found on the phone of an Egyptian man who was suspected of dealing with foreign entities and was deported from Tunisia in 2018. He added that the coincidence of this incident happening in parallel with the reconciliation between the Sabasi family and the head of the government that controls all state organs is the biggest proof that the only beneficiary is Hafedh caid Essebsi who is considered the weak pillar of the Tunisian political party Nidaa Tounes . He further added that The phone and its contents were in the hands of official authorities.
If the leak is proven to have occurred from an official body the matter will be considered extremely dangerous and severe whether or not the recording is a part of Toubal’s private life and inner circle.
