Embezzlement at Tunisia Post: Case Referred to the Judiciary [Video]

    Sofiene Hemissi, Minister of Communication Technologies, confirmed that the case of embezzlement and financial irregularities within Tunisia Post has been referred to the judiciary. In his response to questions from MPs during a general session in Parliament, the minister clarified that the judicial process is now underway and no inspection can be carried out while the case is being handled by the judicial authorities.

    The minister emphasized the importance of this investigation to fully uncover the questionable practices within the public institution.

    Protection for whistleblowers and the minister’s personal oversight of the case

    Sofiene Hemissi reassured whistleblowers, assuring them of legal protection. He specified that any attempt to expose them to administrative measures would be taken very seriously and would prompt a direct intervention. “Whistleblowers are protected under the law, and any administrative action that could harm them will be met with a serious response from the ministry,” he stressed.

    The minister also committed to personally monitoring the progress of the case, ensuring that all necessary steps would be taken to guarantee transparency and integrity in the process.

    Preventive measures implemented by Tunisia Post

    Meanwhile, the minister announced that the General Directorate of Tunisia Post had been instructed to take all necessary precautionary measures to prevent such malpractices from occurring again. He affirmed that steps have been taken to enhance vigilance within the institution and ensure the security of transactions.

    “I commit to closely following this case and ensuring that all appropriate procedures are followed,” the minister concluded, highlighting his personal involvement in managing the matter.
