French cultural figure Jack Lang has described as “naivety” the controversy surrounding his ties to American financier Jeffrey Epstein, insisting he was “never” aware of Epstein’s sexual crimes.
On that basis, the 86-year-old official has ruled out any decision to resign from the presidency of the Arab World Institute (Institut du monde arabe, IMA).
Speaking clearly on the French television channel BFM, the former French Minister of Culture said he had no intention of stepping down: “No, not for a second.”
By contrast, his daughter Caroline recently resigned from a film producers’ union following the release of documents linking the family to the convicted sex offender, who died in prison in 2019.
