European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic called on Israel on Thursday to “stop its campaign” against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UMRWA). The Israeli parliament is currently considering a bill that would designate the UN agency as a terrorist organization. Lenarcic urged Israel to drop the legislation and to “comply with its legal obligation to ensure safety and security of UNRWA staff and premises.”
