European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic said on Sunday that the currently anticipated number of displaced Ukrainians is over 7 million. The European Commission has mobilized over €90 million for the humanitarian aid effort launched by the United Nations for those affected by the Russian invasion.
If the war continues, the United Nations provided a rough estimate that around 18 million Ukrainians will be affected in humanitarian terms, both in Ukraine and displaced in neighbouring countries, Lenarcic added. “We will have to prepare for this kind of emergency, which is of historic proportions,” he warned.
