European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton announced on Monday that the European Union (EU) is initiating official infringement procedures against X, formerly Twitter, over suspected violations of EU law obligations in addressing “illegal content and disinformation.”
“The European Commission has opened formal proceedings to assess whether X may have breached the Digital Services Act (DSA) in areas linked to risk management, content moderation, dark patterns, advertising transparency and data access for researchers,” the Commission statement reads.
