European states strongly warned on Monday that the European Union will impose “measures” against any party that puts peace in Libya at jeopardy, AFP reported.
The remarks came after the German military affirmed that Turkey opposed earlier to halt German personnel within an EU military mission from investigating a Turkish vessel called Rosalina-A. According to a military spokesperson, German troops from the Hamburg frigate boarded the Turkish vessel but had to suspend their inspection after Ankara’s intervention.
The military mission, called Operation Irini, which was designed to enforce the United Nations arms embargo to Libya desired to check the Turkish ship, assuming that the cargo vessel was carrying weapons to Libya. Meanwhile, Ankara claims the Rosalina-A was taking food and paint to the north African country.
