According to a flash estimate published by Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical office, the annual inflation rate in the euro area is estimated at 1.7% in January 2026, down from 2.0% in December.
As for the main components of euro area inflation, services are expected to record the highest annual rate in January (3.2%, compared with 3.4% in December), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (2.7%, compared with 2.5% in December), non-energy industrial goods (0.4%, compared with 0.3% in December), and energy (-4.1%, compared with -1.9% in December).
