Former South African President FW de Klerk died on Thursday at the age of 85.
According to a spokesman, he was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
De Klerk was the country’s president from 1989 and 1994 and is known for freeing Nelson Mandela, who later succeeded him as the head of state, from prison.
