An explosion caused by a fuel tanker colliding with another truck in Nigeria killed at least 48 people on Sunday, the Associated Press reported.
The fuel tanker was also transporting cattle in the Agaie area in north-central Niger state at the moment of impact, causing at least 50 cattle to be burned alive, the news agency said, citing Abdullahi Baba-Arab, director-general of Niger State Emergency Management Agency.
Search and rescue operations were underway, Baba-Arab added.
